The Student visa English minimum was increased to the equivalent of IELTS 6.0 for applications subject to the current rules, with different settings for certain ELICOS and recognised pathway arrangements. Always check the current Home Affairs requirement for your circumstances.
Approved test types
Study Australia currently lists secure-centre tests accepted for Student visa English evidence, including IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT for Australia and other approved tests. At-home versions are not accepted for the visa.
Your university may require more
Nursing, teaching, health, law and other programs can have higher course or professional-registration requirements. Read the actual course entry requirements rather than assuming the visa minimum is enough.
